Is the full 60W always delivered to the endpoint?
The injector provides up to its rated output, while a compliant powered device negotiates and draws according to its supported class and design. Cable loss and standards definitions also affect the power available at the endpoint. Use the endpoint manufacturer’s requirement as the main selection reference rather than assuming every device receives or needs 60W.
Is this better than buying a PoE switch?
It depends on the number of powered links and management needs. One or two isolated endpoints can make an injector practical.
